Women Who Wear Ballgags
Last week I decided spontaneously to northern Paraguay me to look at something. At this point a brief explanation: Paraguay may be divided into two very different regions: the Chaco in the north where there is very little raining, very barren and sparsely populated is. In contrast, the southern part, where there is very fertile and 95% of the population of Paraguay live in these about 30% of the country.
Well, Saturday I packed my backpack so with mosquito nets, emergency fuel, pocket knife, cooking pot, slingshot and fishing and made my way north.
Most of the time it passed by huge big ranches with either endless cattle pastures and soybean fields. Right and left to the horizon one could see anything else. Damn impressive. Variety introduced colorful birds, wild guinea pigs and the ominous run over animals on the roadside. Now and then I came
to rivers or lakes past when I inserted a short break and the water refreshed me. =) Because despite wind to get ornlich at about 38 degrees into a sweat.
evening I arrived in a city where just happened to be Benny and Nina (also volunteers in Paraguay) had a reunion. There I spent an evening and remained dignified even overnight. The next morning, but I broke up again and went on to Laguna Blanca. This is a sea of snow-white sand, so that the water is crystal clear. The Laguna is situated 40 km from the paved road and the road is more than off-road, so I had to drive most of the time standing. Damn funny =)
rented it arrives at the Laguna I canoe and paddled across the lake, until I found a beautiful, secluded sandy cove with cacti and Pomelobäumen. There I made my first a little fire on which I was cooking me my dinner. Actually I was planning to eat fish, but the sun was burning mercilessly from the sky and on the shore there was no shade, so I had fun with a rice dish.
the late afternoon, I paddled back to my bike and made my way south. Just before sundown, I crossed a river, where I decided to return. I drove away slightly upstream from the road and built up my mosquito net on the shore under a lime tree. Native I was cooking a soup, listening to music, enjoying the silence and marveled at the sunset. Coincidentally, I had a sip of rum in the backpack, which I made myself a delicious cocktail made with fresh limes. As
me the mosquitoes almost ate up I crawled under my net, and slept less than good until the next morning.
Before the sun had risen, I packed up my things and drove back to Ypacaraí, where I arrived just in time for tutoring.
runs Otherwise everything here as usual, in the morning I go to school transport and the afternoon I'm teaching. Except that we still have no running water. But is now at least at night about all between 12 und 5 clock a bit. Since then we collect it in large containers, so we have drinking water during the day.

Ticket Adventure Island Rohini
In recent weeks, we had more problems with the water because it rained hard the last few months. Every day, we had no water for several hours and one week since we have no running water at all anymore.
the beginning it was still quite funny. The water for the toilet we had to fetch a bucket from the Pileta and drinking and flushing water we picked a day in a canister from the neighboring village. But now the water tank is empty, that all our animals are supplied, so it is slowly risky. Therefore, we drove several hours to Cantera Lake and completed a total of 16 containers with 200 liters of sea water. And all by hand with a bucket.
drinking water we get now from one of the fountains of the Cantera settlement. Really like a picture book, with a pulley, rope and bucket. That's very nice on the arms, the bucket as often pull the 10m shaft until the full canister has 200l.
In any case, you learn so economical with the drinking water.
is the course a little on hygiene. Although I do bathe daily in the lake, but now I can still shape my hair as desired, as if I had rubbed a pound of butter.
I think after 5 days without a shower I do not begrudge me this time a liter of water to wash the hair with shampoo can. Is slow even me uncomfortable.
But here, despite the water problems we of course let us not spoil the celebration. At the weekend I had was on a better delivery Open Air Carnaval celebration in the dance floor was approximately 40x30m large pool of knee-deep water. This was full of people dancing until the wee hours of music. Was correct divertido!
this weekend I'm going with Rivka (my Mitvolontärin), Jenny (the holiday is just here) and maybe a few friends from here, the Inland, where a 14 hectare plot of land known with a beautiful house, palm trees and pool have. Are you over the weekend on the road and asked us if we can watch as long as the house.
social as I am I said I was of course willing to sacrifice my time for it ...
